Student Benchmarks
There is so much that is available to you as a RU-N student. We developed these benchmarks to help you create goals to make the most about your college experience. These are meant to be suggestions to help you think about how to prioritize your experiences while in college, but they are not set in stone. Every students situation is different so feel free to meet with your EOF Counselor to discuss any of these benchmarks at any point in your college career.
First Year (0-29 Credits): Acclimation & Purpose
- Explore & develop goals/purpose as a college student (Meet with your EOF Counselor to get started!)
- Understand major/career interests and connect them to personal values & strengths (Use CRE as a resource!)
- Learn how to utilize university academic, financial, and personal resources/systems
- Identify wellness resources & practices (Check out Health & Wellness website!)
Second Year (30-59 Credits): Involvement & Connections
- Understand career interests and pathways (Use CRE as a resource!)
- Engage in exploratory activities to further understanding of self as it relates to major/career interests, and strengths (i.e. Visit CRE, conduct informational interviews)
- Explore and identify learning experiences which will develop soft skills (i.e. student organizations, part-time job, RA, TA, research etc.)
- Develop a professional network of faculty, staff, & students which will help advance goals
Junior Year (60-89 Credits): Career Planning & Experiential Learning
- Create plan toward graduation with assistance from your academic advisor or EOF Counselor
- Develop career readiness skills (i.e. Use CRE to develop resume, practice interviewing etc. Check out the Braven course!)
- Participate in experiential learning opportunities which will build your resume (i.e. internships, research, study abroad, student organizations etc. Create a handshake account!)
- Revisit student benchmarks from first 2 years and develop goals for what you want to build upon in your junior year
Senior Year (90+ Credits): Future Planning & Launching
- Develop an after-graduation plan
- Participate in experiential learning opportunities which will build your resume (i.e. internships, part-time job, research, TA, RA etc)
- Revisit student benchmarks from first 3 years and develop goals for what you want to build upon in your senior year
