EOF Incoming First Years

Incoming EOF first-year students have the advantage of participating a variety of opportunities within the EOF program. The program does not only provide financial assistance, but a host of academic, professional, and personal development opportunities as well as guidance from your assigned EOF Counselor. All first-year students begin their academic journey by participating in our EOF Summer Institute which will provide a jumpstart to your time at RU-N. 

EOF Summer Institute

The EOF Summer Institute is a 5-week residential program where incoming EOF first-year students get a glimpse into their college coursework as well as learn strategies to support their transition to Rutgers University – Newark. Look through the information below for an overview of important dates and summer program expectations.

Dates for summer program for 2025: Sat, June 28th – Fri, August 1st. You will also be invited to campus for two days prior to this for placement testing and to register for your classes. These dates will be provided after you decide to attend Rutgers University – Newark.

During the summer students will:
  • Learn about what academic coursework is like at RU-N
  • Connect with other EOF students, faculty, and staff
  • Learn about available resources, programs, and services
  • Learn to be more independent and take control of your learning process

Important Admission Dates

By May 1st: Accept Admission to RU-N

Before May 9th: Register for placement testing and SOAR (Student Orientation Advisement & Registration)

  • Login with netid to MyRutgers Portal Dashboard, find “My Enrollment: Required” widget and select register for Placement Testing or SOAR to be connected to the Enrollment Pathway Portal

May 17th: In person placement testing for EOF students. You MUST register by May 9th to attend!!

June 1st: Submit any financial documents (If selected)

Early June: Attend EOF Registration & Workshop Day

June 28th – August 1st: Attend Summer Program
